Exclusive Land and Tree Services (ELT) is currently seeking applicants who possess the skills and abilities to be considered a professional tree climber. The applicant must possess the skills and attitude to perform tree trimming/removal utilizing “climbing spikes” and industry accepted rope rigging techniques which promote safe practices for the climber, the groundcrew, the equipment and the customer.
Position Expectations:
• Perform comprehensive daily briefings with ground crew prior to the start of the job.
• Be willing to “climb” trees and rope tree material daily.
• Utilize proper PPE according to the assigned task.
• Professionally communicate with the customer, crew, and the public, as needed.
• Perform equipment inspections (climbing gear, lifts, crane ball etc....) prior to its use.
• Ensure proper work site set-up, including traffic signs/control, fire tools, Safety equipment, and drop/danger zone set-up.
• Possess and demonstrate the skills needed by a climber to safely trim/remove trees utilizing “climbing spikes” and ropes for rigging with the use of a ground crew.
• Possess and demonstrate knowledge in making industry accepted cuts on trees and limbs.
• Possess/demonstrate the desire to “teach” less experienced climbers in developing their skills.
• Express and demonstrate the willingness and ability to train a groundman to assist with the safe handling of tree debris during a trimming or removal job.
• Possess and demonstrate the safe handling of a variety of gas-powered saws utilized in the tree industry.
• Possess and demonstrate knowledge in the utilization of various types of aerial lifts, the application of the lifts, safe operation of the lifts and a basic knowledge of the care and maintenance of each lift.
• Possess experience removing/trimming trees utilizing a crane.
• Assume a leadership role within the crew based on experience, safety, and mutual respect.
Position Requirements:
• Possess a reputation as a professional tree climber within the climbing community.
• Possess a minimum of 4 years of professional climbing experience and provide references to support experience.
• Arrive on time daily and be prepared to perform the duties of a tree climber.
• Possess a personal desire to perform one’s work at a level which exhibits professionalism as an individual and a representative of ELT.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving history suitable for being added to company auto policy. (Note: the driver’s history can be checked prior to official offer of position)
• Must be able to pass a level 2 background screening to work at certain job sites.
• Must be able to provide professional references from previous employers.
• Candidate must sign a no competition agreement while employed with ELT.
• Successfully pass a drug screen.
Pay and Benefits:
• Minimum pay $31.00 per hour (Commercial Driver’s License, Certified Arborist, etc.... may qualify candidate for a higher starting salary)
• Health Insurance available after 90 days.
• Holiday pay after 90 days.
• 40 hours paid leave after 12 months.
• Pay and growth potential within the company based on performance
