We have been hard at work with new boats in Poulsbo recently! This 46' racing sailboat has been a fun project, curve balls and all. First we installed a new bilge pump, tested all batteries to find they were beyond salvage, found and ordered all parts needed to get the engine up and running again, and sadly found that the bottom of the aluminum diesel tank had corroded away to mush. We pumped the compartment that holds the tank into containers and ended up removing just under 40 gallons of diesel! Next up on this boat we will be working to get a new tank fabricated and the engine ready for a motor trip to it's new owner. Big shout out to Longship Marine for the support in Poulsbo!

Another fun installation! This time aboard a nice Choy Lee clipper 42.
On the list was: Another burnt-out 30A shore power inlet and power cord end, install and setup of a wonderful Victron Energy B.V. 3,600 watt isolation transformer, new wire runs to service all eight 120v outlets and new outlets to match, last but not least a new distribution panel to take over for the original tired one.
Overall this is a much safer vessel now! And it was a pleasure to supply and install this entire re-wire project to include an isolation transformer!

A few nights ago we responded to a USGC call of the Port Orchard foot ferry Carlisle ll, who lost their main engine. Another Kitsap Transit vessel, Admiral Pete, came to it's assistance and rigged into hip tow formation. We stood by and assisted as a side thruster vessel as needed.

Great job Kitsap Transit captains and crew!

Diesel forced air heater troubleshooting aboard a beautiful Oyster 46. We ended up replacing the lift pump required to prime the system and relocated it to a better strategic position in relation to the rest of the system.... Success!

There will be more exciting things to come with this vessel's systems and we're happy to be doing the upgrades!

Crawling around in the belly of an Ocean Alexander 40 to get access to a downed hot water heater is what we call a great day.

This is probably the nastiest failure from a marine heating element that we've had eyes on. Impressive!

Another wonderful day on Marrowstone Island... This time we arrived with all new components and new housing for a Yanmar diesel engine control, warning, and tachometer panel. What a lucky boat 😄

It was a pleasure to meet this character who needed an emergency fuel delivery near Blake Island. We loaded him up and wished him fair seas to Tacoma.

Recently, while doing a full vessel electrical inspection in preparation for a much larger overhaul, we noticed yet another melted shore power inlet and matching cord end. These situations are dangerous, luckily we stock these parts in our mobile shop and had new components installed quickly.

Most commonly burnt contacts and plugs such as these are due to the user plugging or unplugging while the power is still "ON" and load on the vessel is available. Over time, this builds resistance on the contacts of the plugs and resistance=heat!

Be sure to switch the vessel main 120v breaker to "OFF" and do the same with the dockside breaker every time before messing with your plugs. Be safe.
