We recognize that the communities we serve need convenient, low-cost, direct air service to key markets and destinations. We continue to pursue new air service opportunities—new markets, more frequency, additional capacity, and better aircraft – while seeking to promote our region as one of the largest markets in upstate New York.

🏅 Honoring lifesaving courage at SYR

Today, Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Police Officers Dimkos and Clarke, along with a nurse who was a passenger at the airport, were presented with American Red Cross Lifesaving Awards in recognition of their heroic response to a medical emergency inside the terminal on February 24th.

When an arriving passenger suffered sudden cardiac arrest, the officers and nurse immediately began CPR, deployed an AED and worked alongside fellow emergency responders to provide lifesaving care. Their rapid response helped the passenger regain consciousness before being transported to the hospital.

We're so glad to see that passenger reunited with his heroes and in good health today.

This recognition reflects the officers’ courage, training and unwavering commitment to protecting our airport community and the traveling public.

✈️ A “Skibird” spotted at SYR!

One of our Operations team members recently captured this impressive New York Air National Guard LC-130 “Skibird” touching down at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

Operated by the 109th Airlift Wing, these specially equipped aircraft can land on both conventional runways and snow or ice, supporting missions in some of the most remote places on Earth. Take a closer look and you’ll spot the skis beneath the aircraft!

✈️ A blast from the past at SYR!

On this Throwback Thursday, we’re opening the archives for a look at airport operations from years gone by, from a China Airlines Boeing 747 and a Northwest Airlines DC-9 in the airline’s classic “bowling shoe” livery, to an earlier generation of SYR’s winter equipment working during snowy conditions, an early glimpse of the winter operations tradition for which SYR remains known.

The aircraft and equipment may have changed, but our commitment to keeping Central New York moving safely has remained the same.

✈ Alaska you this: How often do you see one of these at SYR?

Not very often! This Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900ER made an unexpected stop in Syracuse last weekend while traveling from Portland (PDX) to New York (JFK). The flight diverted to SYR due to high air traffic volume at JFK.

Because Alaska Airlines does not regularly serve Syracuse, this was an especially rare visitor! How many of you saw it at the airport?

Whether she’s offering a comforting paw, sharing a smile or taking a little walk through the terminal, Marcy loves making travel days brighter for passengers of all ages.

✈️ A rare aircraft with a special local connection!

Don, from Camillus, shared this photo of an F/A-18 Super Hornet that visited SYR this weekend. Even cooler, Don shared with us that the aircraft was piloted by his nephew, a graduate of West Genesee High School and the Naval Academy!

It was an exciting homecoming and a memorable opportunity to see one of the U.S. military’s premier carrier-based fighter aircraft right here in Central New York. Welcome home, and thank you for your service! 🇺🇸
