Love this Boat / Motor Combo! So many memories, built in My home state of Tennessee. Still hand built boats today. This is my 1991 Bullet 17’0 and still my favorite boat ever.

Happy Father’s Day weekend! We will be closed so that the Guys can spend the weekend with their families (they’re not happy about being forbidden from coming to the shop. Lots of pouting ensued.) Working on this Force for Big Dave. We tag teamed it today and got the carbs cleaned and new gaskets. New spark plugs, new impeller and gear oil. And we got started on working on the tilt and trim. We will try to finish that up on Monday and get it back to him.

Running this early 70’s 25 hp Johnson for the first time today after replacing the points and condensers, 1 coil, spark plugs, impeller, gear oil and flushing the fuel system and rebuilding the carb. We will run it more on Monday and make sure everything is tuned in before we get it back to its owner.

1990’s Johnson 90 hp.

It ran a year ago, when we tried to start it, it rev’ed way up. Tried to adjust it but it continued to rev up. Rick pulled the cover off the carbs and removed them. When I went to clean the carbs I found this bolt in the bottom carb. We haven’t had these carbs off in this shop. Not sure where it came from, (appears to be a cover bolt) or even how it go past the front cover, but glad we found it before it went anywhere else. Reinstalled the carbs and once again it runs like it should.

It also had a tilt and trim issue. The motor worked fine when directly connected to the battery. But it would not work with the switches. After chasing the wires it was as I suspected, the relay box on these motors over time get all gummed up and don’t want to work. We had another relay box in great shape. Terry swapped them out and it worked perfectly. Great old motors. This one is on a Late 70’s Ranger Bass Boat.
