The Town has adopted a new ordinance prohibiting low-speed vehicles (LSV / Golf carts) from parking in town-owned parking lots on the island. This includes Sunset Blvd. Streetscape, Gazebo, and West Main Street at 40th.
Exemptions:
LSVs displaying a valid handicapped license plate or placard may park in marked accessible (handicapped) spaces in accordance with applicable regulations.
What This Means:
β’ LSVs are no longer permitted to park in designated town-owned parking lots.
β’ LSVs may continue to park in standard (non-restricted) parking spaces where allowed but must not occupy spaces designated for other specific uses.
β’ A total of 90 designated LSV parking spaces remain available along East and West Main Street, offering convenient access to beach areas.
Enforcement:
This ordinance will be enforced year-round by the Police Department, with seasonal coordination support from Otto Connect as needed.
Signage:
New signage will be installed in affected areas to clearly notify the public of these changes.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly and use designated LSV parking areas where available.
