If you are an online merchant, you may have made the decision either consciously or unconsciously that shipping internationally is really too complicated to deal with duties and taxes. You may have verbiage like the following on your webpage:

The holiday season is here! Online merchants see huge traffic at this time from their overseas customers. The average order values of these cross-border customers is higher than that of a domestic order. And yet, we see disclaimers on international shipping pages leading to shopping cart abandonment and unhappy customers.

Yakit has you covered. Our guaranteed duties & taxes paid service combined with full insurance and end-to-end tracking ensures that your customers always return to your site for international shipping. Chat with us today @ www.yakit.com and we’ll show you how.

You do not have to find a French ‘platform’ in my opinion. What you need to do is find a drop shipper that will utilize technology and believes that shipping to other countries in a DDP fashion is best.

No matter where you ship from, when a parcel leaves a facility and the final duty and taxes have not been addressed, it means that the Drop Shipper’s choice of carriers to deliver that international parcel is going to be involved in the duty and tax collection in some format.

If the final mile delivery agent is a postal authority, they will leave a card or make a collection payment at the time of the delivery. If it is a ‘big box’ carrier such as FedEx or UPS, they will contact the customer and request payment of duty and taxes plus an ancillary fee or fees for processing the shipment through their customs agent. Either way, the costs are an unknown to the end buyer of your product and many times this is the point where the buyer says ‘I refuse the shipment ‘ in which case it is sent back to you’re Drop Shipper with high return fees potentially.

The ability now exists through the use of Yakit, International shipping platform for Ecommerce for your Drop Shipper to include the duty and taxes up front along with the shipping costs and provide one all inclusive rate for delivery to the door of the end consumer. Yakit is secure with complete end to end tracking, and full insurance coverage included on every shipment.

Shipping in a DDU scenario is unpredictable and leaves way to many loose ends for end consumer, whilst Yakit takes those ‘loose ends’ out of the equation and secures a stable and happy delivery outcome for the end consumer and the Drop Shipper.

THIRD PARTY FULFILLMENT ( 3PL) SHIPPING WITH YAKIT

During their growth phase, online merchants may begin to consider using a Third Party Fulfillment (3PF) house to handle their warehousing, pick/pack, shipping and order processing including returns.

The decision to go with a 3PF is often influenced by:

1. The location of the 3PF
2. The technology and platforms used by the 3PF to communicate with the online merchant’s shopping carts
3. Operating Management Systems ( OMS) that they have purchased or built in-house
4. Expertise and cost advantages that a 3PF can bring to the table

Advantages of a 3PF

Great savings with respect to shipping rates that might be unobtainable by the online merchant as a stand alone client with the same carriers
Reduction in direct employee costs and processing times for orders.
Geographical advantages that come into play by working with a 3PF that is more centrally located resulting in lower postage rates due to zone skipping.

At the end of the day though, online merchants are merchandisers. They strive to make the online shopping experience hassle free and encourage new buyers to come in, browse and purchase.

Increasingly, these new buyers are from overseas destinations and this is where the question of shipping overseas orders and the technology solutions offered by the 3PF come into play.

International shipping trends

Increasingly, online merchants are embracing international orders and speaking the language of ‘duty and tax prepaid shipping’. The same transformation is occurring with forward thinking 3PFs too. Gone are the days of having a short paragraph on a website talking about placing the onus of International duties/taxes on to the buyer - the Duties Unpaid (DDU) approach. Uncertainty in duties and taxes is the leading cause of shopping cart abandonment and customer dissatisfaction.

What does Yakit offer 3PFs?

Yakit provides 3PFs with a sophisticated set of tools, a veritable tool box, for international shipping. Your sales teams can speak from a position of knowledge by offering a solution for international orders that will help your online merchants increase their overseas sales.

Here are some parts of the International shipping tool-box:

Duty and taxes guaranteed on each order instantly ( you no longer wait 3 weeks for a duty and tax invoice from your big box carrier)

‘Proactive monitoring’ of each shipment to make sure that the consumer will receive their parcel within the Yakit SLA time frame and can track his/her shipment anytime.

Yakit’s full value insurance up to USD 2000.00 per shipment.

Guaranteed duty and tax compilation with Yakit technology. You no longer have to worry about a change in duty and taxes affecting your shipping costs, the rate provided by Yakit is guaranteed against any governmental changes and the costs shown and paid are static. No secondary invoices ever generated to collect ‘differences in duty and taxes.

Yakit pricing on shipping is extremely competitive and allows for 3PF’s to capture a profit margin on the shipping costs...Yakit technology is ‘built in’ with this advantage.

Easy integration with Yakit - we have plugins that integrate with many fulfillment systems. Ask us if yours is supported.

Distributed shipping: Your 3PF can be anywhere, Yakit will pick it up and route your shipments efficiently. When we say anywhere, they can be in any US state, or in many European countries, China, Hong Kong and India.

In closing, a relationship with Yakit can bring an added advantage to the 3PF’s sales team when pursuing new accounts to on board into their system. Yakit technology can be utilized to grab orders, capture data, and create shipping labels allowing for the final step of Yakit ‘boxing or bulking’ those orders into geographic regions of delivery.

With Yakit, there is no ‘hub and spoke’ secondary warehousing or touching of orders, there is only a straight line advancement of the Yakit Master Box containing the Yakit shipments directly to the export facility and customs clearance stages of the delivery process.

‘Flat World E-Commerce Solutions’ are here. Yakit enables 3PF’s that ability to facilitate to accommodate the new world of ‘direct to consumer’ shipping worldwide.

POSTED ON QUORA TODAY:

There are many thousands of reliable products that are available for starting or continuing or growing your drop shipping business. It is important to do your homework though and make sure that the products you are selling are actually the products you are advertising. It only makes good business sense to do this.

From a logistics perspective, as a drop shipper who owns no product nor owns a fulfillment center, but only 'owns' the sale/customer...you should think about what type of delivery experience you want to offer your clients. Most drop shippers do not think about the cost of customer acquisition...yes that cost that occurs when people click on your product but do not buy, or they have bought and in particular with foreign transactions, now have to pay duty and taxes on the item you had sent to them.

Think about folks, if you were buying something online and you pay the price but then have an 'unknown' charge still to contend with, is this really a great business model? If I could counsel drop shippers on one thing, it would be 'control the delivery experience' and offer shipping that includes the duty and taxes. You can do this very easily now days, just check out International shipping platform for E-commerce and organize a demo of their services. Your future drop shipping profits and customer acquisition costs will be impacted positively if you do.

Any item over about 15.00 dollars USD will have duty and taxes added onto it by your delivery partner. If you use the USPS and think that packages just go through duty and taxes free, that is not the case either. Canada Post does collect 'fees' for inbound international shipments.

When your customer has to deal with an open ended situation like duty and taxes and has to pay another company to complete the delivery process, it can create negative feelings about the transaction and potentially your product.

I highly suggest using a service like International shipping platform for Ecommerce to send parcels to Canada, that way the duties and taxes are prepaid and all your customer has to do is sit back and receive their parcel right to their door. The lifetime value of a happy customer is why Yakit is a great service for those companies that want to grow their overseas client base.

There is only one company that actually monitors the end to end logistics from an online merchant's shipping center, all the way to the receiving customer's door, this company is Yakit. Not only does Yakit have end-to-end, "no gaps" tracking, but they also internally monitor their client's shipments to facilitate communications to the end consumer so that everyone is 'kept in the loop' during the pickup, airfreight, and customs clearance processes, this culminates with the 'final mile' delivery being made.

Yakit keeps watch over each parcel in their network and has the ability to be proactively responsive in the case of unforeseen logistical incidences such as labor actions as in the current Australian Customs Strike, or delays with final mile delivery agents due to geopolitical or weather related events. By watching over the parcels in their care, Yakit keeps the end customer aware of any potential delays and makes sure that their online merchants are being proactively communicated with so that the end result is an overseas customer who knows where their packages are and when they will be delivered.

In this era, where the end consumer is capable of impacting your brand via social media, why take the chance and just 'ship' your overseas parcel without the security that Duty and Tax Prepaid shipping from Yakit offers? Yakit is the closet thing to having a 'concierge' personally deliver each and every parcel to your clients door. If your business is just starting to accept overseas orders, or you are actively pursing growth within a particular market internationally, Yakit is an option that you should seriously consider.

That's why we say, Don't just ship it... Yakit!
