If you missed out on Summersville Lake's "Deep Drawdown" a few months ago, here's your second chance to see what the lake looks like when it's almost completely drained!
Good Morning from the Summersville Lake.
The lake elevation is 1,567 ft. which is 8 ft. below winter pool. The outflow elevation is 11.94 ft. which is 3,716 CFS. The outflow should remain stable today. The lake is murky, and the tail waters are murky. The outflow water temperature is 40ΛF. The Craigsville River elevation is 11.96 ft. which is 1,136 CFS. The Meadow River elevation is 5.43 ft. which is 506 CFS.
Please be aware that we have begun lowering the lake level in order to make a necessary repair to the intake structure. The lake will be lowered approximately 5 feet per day from March 16th through March 23rd to reach target elevation of 1538, which is 37 feet below the winter pool. The lake will remain at that elevation for 2-3 days. On approximately March 25th, the outflow from the dam will be set to minimum flow so the lake can refill.
All boat launch ramps are not accessible. The lake and boat ramp areas will re-open as quickly as possible. Contact 304-872-3412 for a recording of the lake conditions and closures, which will be updated daily.
