Union County residents — a proposed zoning amendment is being considered that would BAN the use of storage containers, shipping containers, PODS, and similar structures as accessory uses on private property in Morganfield, Sturgis, and Waverly.
For many families, farmers, small businesses, and property owners, these containers provide:
• Affordable storage solutions
• Secure equipment and inventory storage
• Temporary storage during construction or moving
• Practical alternatives to expensive buildings
• Flexibility for rural and working properties
A blanket ban takes away property owners’ ability to decide what works best for their own land.
Whether you personally use containers or simply believe property owners should have reasonable freedom and flexibility, now is the time to speak up!
📍 Public Hearing
🗓 June 15, 2026 at 7pm
📍 Union County Central Building
510 S. Mart Street, Morganfield, KY
If residents stay silent, this amendment could pass without hearing from the people it directly affects. Attendance matters. Respectful public input matters. Numbers matter.
Please come voice your opinion and encourage others to attend. Let elected officials and the Planning Commission hear from the community before permanent restrictions are put in place.
