It is generally recommended to replace your exhaust components (such as exhaust manifolds, elbows, and riser blocks) on inboard and sterndrive engines every 4-6 years when used in saltwater applications.

This is what it looks like when a leak goes unaddressed, causing severe damage to the engine.

Keeping up with your maintenance is always the less expensive option in the end.
