Major Milestones at the Port of Stockton!
Exciting developments are taking place at the Port of Stockton, thanks to a successful collaboration between Luminary Logistics, SSA Marine, and Barnhart Crane and Rigging. Together, they facilitated the safe transport of two massive stators, destined for the Lake Don Pedro Life Extension Project. Weighing in at 114 metric tons, these stators were carefully offloaded from the M.V. ABB VANESSA, a specialized project carrier that had transported them from Santos, Brazil.
The skilled members of ILWU Locals 54, 91, and 34 used the ship’s own cranes to carefully lift the stators and place them onto Barnhart Crane’s SPMT units, ensuring a smooth transition from ship to shore transport.
This major project is part of the expansion of the Lake Don Pedro hydroelectric plant, which currently generates 203 MW of clean energy. With the new additions, the facility will increase its output to around 268 MW, helping to replace up to 350,000 tons of coal annually.
The Port of Stockton is proud to play a vital role as Northern California’s Maritime logistics hub for large-scale, environmentally responsible projects like this one. Special thanks to Luminary Logistics for their support and collaboration throughout the entire process.
