Well, today was bitter sweet. I closed a chapter in my life that I literally put everything I had into. Being an owner operator was challenging in every way you can imagine and when times were good, it was very rewarding. I took a gamble a little over three years ago when the country was at the top of its game. I took a chance and did my best. Unfortunately ever since the ”big guy” took office, it’s been a spiral down hill. I could have kept on plugging away at it but an opportunity came along and now the ole Ground Pounder is a memory. I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do when I grow up, but for now, I’m going to kick back and reset. God only knows what in store for me next.

Well I found out today my fuel card has a maximum $1000 per day usage. Never dreamed when I got the bright idea to be an owner/op that fuel would ever be this high and still climbing. Yes the rates have gone up a little bit but the fuel keeps climbing eventually outweighing any rate increase. I guess it will flip flop until something changes but until then, don’t be surprised when a $.99 cheeseburger cost you $10.

I was told a few years ago by an owner op that I couldn’t afford to be an owner op. Told me that twice in the same breath. I’ve been pretty proud of myself proving him wrong the past couple years…until now. I’m a ship at sea that is slowly sinking. I don’t know what I’m going to do. Either way, I’m not gonna bail. All I can do is ride it out and put it in God’s hands.
