This exciting milestone marks a major step forward for our airport and our community. The new, modern three-level terminal enhances the experience for pilots, passengers, and visitors, while positioning the airport for continued growth and future opportunities.

From upgraded pilot amenities to expanded gathering spaces - and even the potential for a future restaurant - this facility is designed with the future in mind.

Progress continues on the new terminal building at the Statesville Regional Airport!

The project is moving into the final stages, with exterior metal panels now on site and currently being installed, bringing the building closer to completion. A meeting with the exterior signage company is also scheduled for next week to finalize signage details for the terminal.

Inside the building, crews are working through several minor punch list items, and a final exterior punch walk will take place once the metal panel installation is complete.

๐Ÿš Just a casual Wednesday fuel stopโ€ฆ

A Sikorsky Skycrane dropped in at the Statesville Regional Airport to top off โ€“ and it definitely turned a few heads. This isnโ€™t your average helicopter. Originally used by the military to haul equipment like tanks, civilian versions now handle some of the toughest jobs out there:

๐ŸŒฒ Lifting massive trees off mountain tops
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Setting air-conditioning units on really tall buildings
๐Ÿšง Carrying loads up to 20,000 pounds

Thatโ€™s 20,000 poundsโ€ฆ picked up like itโ€™s no big deal.

Not a bad sight to see during a midweek airport stop!

โ— There are NO vendor opportunities for this event.
โ— The City is NOT collecting vendor fees.

The scam emails request payment (around $200) through a Google Form ๐Ÿ’ป and are pretending to be event coordinators.

Excitement is building as work on the new Statesville Regional Airport Terminal Building enters its final stages. Crews are completing remaining punch list items and putting the finishing touches throughout the building as we prepare to welcome the community into this new space.

Long lead-time metal panels are expected to arrive in mid to late February 2026 and will be installed once delivered. The original flagpole shipment arrived with an incorrect finish and has been returned; the correct flagpole was delivered late last week and installation is currently underway.

The Statesville Regional Airport is currently closed due to inclement weather conditions impacting the airfield and runway surfaces. Freezing temperatures and winter precipitation have created unsafe conditions for aircraft operations.

The new terminal building here at the Statesville Regional Airport reached a major milestone with the issuance of a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) on December 19, 2025.

All major construction tasks have been completed. A small number of minor items remain, including installation of metal panels needed to wrap exterior columns. These panels had a longer lead time and are expected to be installed once received.

The current plan is to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on February 9, 2026. Additional details will be shared as the event approaches.
