CBP Hosts IEEPA Duty Refunds Webinar on Wednesday, April 15, at 2:30 p.m. ET

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Trade on Wednesday, April 15, at 2:30 p.m. ET, will host a webinar on IEEPA Duty Refunds.

On Friday, April 10, CBP issued guidance about the upcoming Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) deployment to launch the process to request refunds for duties imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). CBP said this webinar will review the process under the ACE Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE), from submission of the CAPE Declaration to issuance of an IEEPA refund.

CBP said all registrants will receive the access link for the webinar the day of the event, but entry into the webinar is on a first-come, first-served basis as seats are limited. Trump Administration Adjusts Section 232 Tariffs for Steel, Aluminum and Copper. New rules for calculating Section 232 metals tariffs:
• Articles made entirely or almost entirely of aluminum, steel, or copper will pay a flat 50% on their full value — for example, steel coils and aluminum sheet.
• Derivative articles substantially made of steel, aluminum, or copper will pay a flat 25% on their full value.
• Certain metal-intensive industrial equipment and electrical grid equipment will pay 15% through 2027, to accelerate the massive industrial base buildout currently underway across the United States.
• Products made abroad but entirely with American steel, aluminum, and copper will be subject to lower tariffs of 10%.
• Products made of 15% or less steel, aluminum, or copper will no longer be subject to Section 232 metals tariffs.

At this time, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has not yet issued formal operational guidance or updated its entry processing systems to reflect the ruling. As a result, current CBP programming and entry procedures may not yet fully align with the decision, and importers should continue complying with CBP requirements until official implementation guidance is provided.
