Airport Renamed to Honor Late Aviation Ambassador James Brannon West
The City of Star City is proud to announce the official renaming of Star City Municipal Airport to JB West Municipal Airport, in honor of the late James Brannon West.
Mr. West, a dedicated airport commissioner, skilled pilot, and passionate advocate for aviation, played a vital role in the support and growth of the local airport community. His commitment to aviation and service to the city left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.
Tragically, Mr. West passed away in an accident at the airport he cared so deeply about. In recognition of his contributions and enduring legacy, Airport and City officials have chosen to rename the airport in his honor.
JB West Municipal Airport will stand as a lasting tribute to a man whose love for aviation helped shape its future in Star City.
The airport commission is currently working on the design and installation of updated signage to reflect the new name and to further commemorate Mr. West’s legacy.
