This was along the west side of Lake Garda. Taking this route added over an hour to my drive from Moena to Milan but totally worth it.

Well, second to last day of exploring this beautiful country. On my way to the Dolomites, I got the chance to visit the amazing cliff church of Madonna del Corona. It was spectacular!!
I then had a 3 hour drive to the southern Dolomite town of Moena which was settled in a small valley in-between the mountains.
Overall beautiful day.

Verona, the "city of love". The first day of bad weather shortened my stay here but I got a few pictures and videos.
Verona is best known for the basis to Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" which was rendered from a love story written in the mid 1500's here in Verona. Verona is also well known for its amphitheater which is actually older than Rome's amphitheater by about 40-60 years and still in use.

I took the last two days off to regroup for my last week in Italy. But today I ventured out againto Bologna and Borgetto. Bologna I honestly didn't care for, but Borghetto was another fairytale town here in Italy. The river literally runs right through the town!!
The village that I'm staying in, San Giorgio di Valpolicella is in the hills above Verona and Lake Garda. Perfect little village with everything you need.
The pictures go from my village, Bologna, then Borghetto.
I visit Verona and Chioggia, considered "little Venice". I'll let you know what I find!

This is one of the "Off the Beaten Path" spots that I would love to take one of our tours to in 2027. This is the amazing town of Borgetto where the river runs right through it!

Well my gout flare up kept me from driving again today but thankfully I was able to see a doctor and get some meds which helped tremendously! I was able to visit a few more spots here in Assisi before leaving tomorrow for Verona/Lake Garda.
One location was the Basilica of Saint Francis which unfortunately would not allow pictures inside which I can respect their request. I will say that the inside was probably the most beautiful and unique I've ever seen!
Also visited Rocca Maggiore Castle above Assisi. The best part of the day was enjoying a Tuscan sunset.

I had just walked down from the tower at Rocca Maggiore Castle which is perched above Assisi. The castle itself wasn't spectacular but the views were! Those pictures will be in my post later.

Another check on the bucket list. The first time that I saw photos of Assisi, I had already fallen in love but I've been swept away just in the last day that I have been here. Magical!

I worked my way to Assisi today in Umbria, just east of Tuscany. On my way I stopped at the most beautiful ruins I've ever seen. This was the Abbey of San Galgano which dates back to 1250. At the top of the hill is a chapel dating back over 800 years with the famous "sword in the stone".
I don't have many pictures of Assisi yet but I think you'll love it!

Since I took the yesterday off, I started early today with a beautiful sunrise. I started by visiting San Gimignano, the Manhattan of Tuscany with it's competing towers. I wish there was more time but I had to stop by a little town I've always wanted to, Monteriggioni.

Monteriggioni is one of the cutest small villages in Tuscany. A beautifully preserved walled village with great food, w**e and little shops.

I then worked my way over to Siena, the heart of Tuscany. Siena has the big city feel, yet easy to get around, as long as you don't mind doing a good amount of walking up and down hill. One of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever seen!

For our 2027 Tuscan tours, all three of these towns will be on the tour.
