Talk about tardy! I usually keep a running blog/photo blog while we are on our annual 3 month cruise to the Bahamas, then post weekly updates. Last year for some reason I did not. I was planning to pull it together as soon as we got back. Then I guess I got busy, or maybe just lazy! Anyhow I finally got it all written during this Florida cold snap. And I think I remembered most things! Here it is eight months late!

Cumberland Island Fall Cruise November 14, 2023 Sonas Leave a comment Sonas Sonas has been at home dock for the majority of late summer. Most of this was due to some traveling that we did off the boat, but we also took the opportunity to do some maintenance and updating. We replaced every battery on...

We are home from this year's Bahamas trip. This is the report of the final two weeks, weeks 8 and 9. It is pretty photos intensive as we were giving the Abaco tour to our guests.

Woke up this morning at West End thinking that we would be stuck there for another week. Looked at Windy, Windfinder and NOAA and it looked like a chance today. Only iffy was the storms coming off the low in the gulf. So we waited for the early Chris Parker report which basically said the same thing, variable direction up to 12-14 knots but nasty stuff coming off Florida as we neared. So we decided to go.
Wind was not variable, blowing 12-14 steady from the NW. Swells got up to around 4-5 but nicely rounded nothing sharp or breaking. Downside was that they were not consistent and it was a bit of a washing machine.
True to the forecasts as we got to 18nms from Fort Pierce we saw the storms coming at us - moving southeast. Using the radar we turned East and skirted the south edge of the first one, got some guests to 39 and heavy rain but just for about 5 minutes then we snuck past. We found that by then heading on our line back to Fort Pierce we could avoid the next storm - and we did! Got through the inlet at 5pm and tied up at Vero Beach City Marina by 6:15. Got quickly accepted in via ROAM, Bella to the great little dog park, and now cooking sweet Italian Sausage for dinner!
