Heads up, Bond County travelers! Beginning Monday, June 1 at 7:30 a.m., lane closures will be in place on westbound I-70 between mile markers 39 and 38, near Pocahontas, for bridge deck patching over Shoal Creek. All lanes are expected to reopen by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5.

We’re paving the way for safer, more efficient travel along the I-80 corridor!

Last week, IDOT joined Governor JB Pritzker and local leaders to kick off the final phase of the I-80 reconstruction project, with new bridges over the Des Plaines River. This year brings 13 miles of fresh lanes, upgraded interchanges, and enhanced safety features.

Heads up, Jefferson County travelers! Interstate 57 traffic will be diverted overnight from Monday, June 1, through Wednesday, June 3, for structural steel placement on the Illinois 15 overpass. Closures are scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting.

Traffic will be routed around the work zone using the entrance and exit ramps at the Mount Vernon interchange. Expect delays and consider using alternate routes during this closure. More info: http://prez.ly/m3Hd

Heads up, Scott County travelers! Beginning Monday, June 1, lane closures will occur on I-72 under the Hoots Road bridge for reconstruction between the Old 36/I-72 interchange and the Illinois 100/I-72 interchange. ⚠️ All southbound lanes on I-55 at mile marker 94 in Springfield are closed due to a crash. Traffic is being diverted at South Grand Avenue. We’re working with the Illinois State Police to clear the scene as quickly and safely as possible.

Hey, Chicago! Overnight fiber optic line work will require a full closure on the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) reversible express lanes. The closure will be in effect from 10 p.m. Friday, May 29, to 10 a.m. Saturday.

This closure is necessary to make final connections to communications lines replaced in March, which relay traffic information and other data along the expressway system. Expect delays and allow extra time for trips through this area. http://prez.ly/s8Hd

Heads up, Champaign County travelers! Several ramps at the I-57/I-74 interchange are closed as we permanently tie all new ramps into the newly constructed I-57/74 lanes:

👉Eastbound I-74 to northbound I-57
👉Westbound I-74 to northbound I-57
👉Northbound I-57 to Olympian Drive

The northbound I-57 to westbound I-74 ramp will close Tuesday, June 2. Closures are expected to last about four weeks. Additional ramp closures will continue through August as part of the $251.8 million upgrade project. Most work will be completed by the end of the year, with final touches in spring 2027. 🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: Weekend lane closures begin Friday night on I-80 in Joliet 🚧

Starting Friday, May 29 at 10 p.m., lane closures will be in place on westbound I-80 between Richards Street and Wheeler Avenue through 5 a.m. Monday, June 1.

The closures are needed for bridge deck repairs and pavement patching to help keep I-80 in safe condition while the larger reconstruction project continues.

⚠️ Major travel delays are anticipated
⚠️ At least one lane will remain open
⚠️ Eastbound I-80 will not be impacted this weekend
⚠️ Alternate routes are strongly encouraged

Additional weekend lane closures are expected over the next several weeks, alternating between westbound and eastbound I-80.
