A safer future is on the way!

Earlier this month, IDOT and the Illinois State Police broke ground on a $14 million Traffic Incident Management training facility in Pawnee. This state-of-the-art site will provide law enforcement, emergency responders, and highway crews with hands-on training in a realistic, controlled environment—enhancing their ability to respond to crashes and emergencies safely and efficiently.

The facility will include replica highways, urban streets, and rural roads, as well as specialized training for hazardous spills and crash reconstruction. IDOT is funding the project, with ISP set to manage operations when it opens next summer. We’re proud to invest in the safety of Illinois drivers, responders, and communities.
