AKA Trucking is proud to anounce that we will be the first company in United States to receive the newly created 2023 Western Star Model 57x this month

One of our long-term employees was always interested in owning his own truck and becoming an owner-operator and we have agreed to provide him the truck at no-down payment (he is an experienced and safe driver) and competitive monthly rates to cover the cost of the truck. We beleive as always that success of our people will drive the success of the company and ensure to help our people grow in their career.

Truckload spot rates for dry van freight have plummeted 18% (NTI) since start of the year, and 32% if you remove fuel (NTIL).

By no means we are experts, but here are few things we learned (our opinion) from the 2019 slowdown:

- Liquidity (cash) is king - whether small/large fleet or owner-operator, know how much CASH you need to pay your expenses. If needed utilize competitive rated factoring services to get paid earlier. Save money if possible from anywhere possible. This time will pass and rates will go up eventually, but how long can you hold on with low rates?

- Look at all solutions - Amazon, FedEx, DAT/TruckStop, government loads, etc

- Think outside the box, sometimes short runs with higher miles are not a bad idea especially with high fuel cost. We have seen carriers utilize multiple LTL pick/drop loads to help the cost burden (very difficult to execute perfect pick-up/drop-off)

- Don’t overlook importance of experienced dispatch and direct broker/shipper relationships, we have seen experienced dispatchers/relationships with brokers/shippers help many carriers survive downturns in the market

- Maintain good relationship with your local maintenance/repair shops - we all know trucks breakdown and last thing you need now is someone overcharging you for necessary repair work
