What or Who influenced you to get into racing?

19 years

I can remember being at Thompson that’s day like it was yesterday

I can’t believe it’s been 19 years

To my friend, Jimmy, I imagine it still feels like yesterday.

If you compete with your sibling; would you take a few minutes to think about Jimmy? What would it feel like for you if there was an on track incident that resulted in you having to hold their hand while they couldn’t get out of their race car and you would have to face in that moment the realization  it would be the last time that you would get to be with them and that they would be begging you to save them and you wouldn’t be able to. You’d have to just hold their hand and be there. How that might haunt you the rest of your life.

Maybe you’ve had experiences racing with your sibling or your best friend or your parent and you’ve had some close calls; or maybe you know what he feels on a day like today- even 19 years later. Especially when it became such a public incident.

Modified race cars today have a new bar added to the cage because of what happened today 19 years ago.

We’ve lost a lot of people in recent years. Would you take a minute today to think about Jimmy and his family ?
