Fuel System Update - As of right now our fuel system is operational. We are still experiencing intermittent issues with the credit card processing system that we are still working on. If your card doesn't go through the first time please try again as many of our customers have found that to work.

We are currently unable to process credit card transactions at the fuel pump. Customers with fuel cards that purchase on account should still be able to purchase fuel. We are working the issue and will post when it is resolved.

A small plane experienced a minor crash while landing at Fleming Field Municipal Airport. Emergency crews responded quickly, and the pilot was treated for minor injuries.

There is no ongoing safety concern, and operations remain normal. We appreciate the community’s concern and support.

On Friday, we celebrated the completion of major improvements at Fleming Field with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony! The $7 million runway and taxiway reconstruction projects have been completed, with the City of South St. Paul contributing approximately $135,000. These upgrades include a fully reconstructed runway, new LED lights, and updated signs, as well as Precision Approach Path Indicators. The taxiway was also shifted to the west, and new north and south run-up pads and LED taxiway lighting were installed.

We were honored to have several key figures in attendance who played a significant role in supporting these projects. Special thanks to Senator Amy Klobuchar for her critical role in securing funding, along with representatives from Senator Tina Smith and Congresswoman Angie Craig’s offices, Jack Smyth and Allison Gray. State Representative Rick Hansen has long been a supporter of South St. Paul and Fleming Field, and we’re grateful for his advocacy. Additionally, we extend our thanks to Lindsay Terry, FAA ADO Great Lakes Regional Manager for Minnesota, and Ryan Gaug, MNDOT Aeronautics Director, both of whom work tirelessly to ensure Minnesota’s airports are among the best in the nation. Finally, a big thank you to Mayor Jimmy Francis, whose continued support of Fleming Field underscores the economic value the airport brings to South St. Paul and the region.

Power was restored to the south hangar area today around lunchtime. Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!

POWER OUTAGE 8/30/24

At this time all power to the hangars south of the fuel pumps are without electricity. The fuel pumps and AWOS are out as well. We have reported the outage to Xcel Energy and the estimated time for the power to return is 10:30 PM tonight (8/30). If there are updates we will let everyone know.

TAXIWAY RECONSTRUCTION UPDATE
***RUNWAY CLOSURES THIS WEEK***

With the recent rain today, we have had to delay the paving of the Taxiway by a day. The runway will be closed on Friday June 14th from 0700-1000 local time. Lighted X's will be placed on the runway during the closure as crews will be paving within the Obstacle Free Zone near Taxiway A4. The NOTAM dates and times are subject to change due to weather. There will still be one more closure needed to complete the paving on the Taxiway but that is TBD right now as we wait to see what the weather is going to do Saturday. If there is a long enough break in the rain Saturday, Crews will complete the paving. If not, then Monday will be the next day for an attempt at completing the work.

Please also be aware of increased truck traffic along South Gate Road this week as crews prepare for and start paving. The drivers have been instructed to give way to all aircraft so please be patient.

South St. Paul Airport Manager Andrew Wall (right) traveled to Washington, DC last week to speak with our House Members and Senators about the FAA Reauthorization Bill and the continued need for Airport Infrastructure funding in Minnesota. The FAA has helped fund over $7.5 million in projects over the past two years at Fleming Field alone.

He also spoke with the delegation about the implementation of unleaded fuels in aviation and the need for FAA support for infrastructure improvements for new fuels.
