Attention Boating Community!
As you may know, Starting April 1, 2026, a valid boater safety certificate will be required for all individuals operating motorboats and personal watercrafts in Massachusetts. To keep our boating community safe and compliant while exploring the New England waters, South Wharf will be hosting a Boating Safety Certification course with a USCG Auxiliary-certified instructor on May 16, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Classes are $45/person and certificate will be given upon completion.

⚓️ Massachusetts Boating Safety Reminder for 2026 🌊
Planning to get out on the water this season? Here’s what you need to know before your next rental:
• If you were born after January 1, 1989, you’ll need a Basic Boating Safety Certificate by April 1, 2026 to operate a motorboat or PWC. (Good news: penalties are waived until September 1, 2026.)
• If you were born on or before January 1, 1989, you have until April 1, 2028 to get certified.
There are plenty of easy ways to get certified, including free in-person “Boat Massachusetts” classes and online options approved by the state - you can find them at mass.gov.
