We met these friends about 60 miles off North Carolina. They came and went and played with us all afternoon.

The Value of Safety and Training

I began sailing at age 10 on wooden sailfish boats on small ponds in Northwest Ct. I purchased my first boat in 1978, and have been active on the ocean ever since. I learned navigation at age 12 from my father, a former Navy pilot. I knew I needed to know more when I moved up to larger boats so I enrolled in the United States Power Squadron navigation and seamanship program. Through the 1980s and 90s, I operated my own commercial lobster boats in Ct. and R.I. In 2004 I enrolled in the Confident Captain USCG training course in Newport R.I. and was licensed to operate uninspected power vessels. I operated a charter fishing business in Charlestown R.I. until 2015. In 2017 I returned to USCG training and secured a license to operate vessels up to 25 Tons. I have an acute sense of safety from my years of commercial fishing, and I am a firm believer in the timely performance of preventative maintenance and inspections. I pride myself on being alcohol, drug and smoke free and having no criminal record of any kind, including DUI. I recently relocated my Cape Dory 28 sail from South Bristol Maine to Soloman Md. The crew and I would welcome any opportunity to serve new customers anywhere on the Atlantic coast from Maine to Florida.
