Making the best from the fabric stash of a quilter who has passed away. Her daughter handed me a bag of 5 inch squares and asked me to create a quilt in mother's memory. The quilter enjoyed fun, bright fabrics, so Ive grouped them together into warm and cool color sections and set them into an Oh My Stars pattern. I chose yellow for the stars to calm down the brightness a bit and give your eye a place to rest. Lots more piecing to go.

The challenge of the week is this 1930s feed sack quilt. It is all hand pieced hexagons, which have a lot of fullness to compensate for. I’m putting my skills to the test. Oh, and it has polyester fabric mixed in too. 😀The piecer did a nice job with color placement.

I had the pleasure of attending the Fairfield Historical Society Quilt Show yesterday. They displayed over 50 quilts, with many of them dating back to the 1800s. The quilters were super nice as they welcomed me to the Victoria Grange Hall. Four of them were fellow nurses. Nurses that quilt seem to be pretty common in this area. They have several quilts for sale if you are in the market to purchase one. Their next show will be in 2 years.

I’m really liking how this quilter paired Kaffe fabrics with solids in this Flying Geese quilt. Well done!
