โ๏ธ Story Timeโฆ have you ever wondered where the Pirates Cove name came from? There is actually a little history with this name and I thought Iโd share it with you guys.
I grew up right here in Sneads Ferry and my dad and grandad built me my first boat when I was 5 years old the summer I graduated kindergarten. As a kid growing up in Sneads Ferry around Poverty Point & Fulchers Landing, some of my earliest memories are around a tackle shop just down the road from my house that I remember going to for a cold drink, sinkers, hooks, bait, ice, and anything else we needed in a pinch during some of my very youngest fishing adventures. The name of this place was Pirates Cove Marina. Some of you may remember this place. As I got older the marina was torn down and replaced by the state to put a Wildlife boat access in its place. I was getting to the end of my high school days and didnโt want to go college (I wanted to fish) but my dad insisted I needed to go to college and get an education. Turns out the only college I ended up being accepted to was East Carolina, so there wasnโt much picking and choosing where I wanted to go, my choices were pretty slim. After graduating and starting my career, I eventually was able to move back to Sneads Ferry while still working. As I started kicking around names for this boat & rv storage business I wanted to open, only one seemed like the perfect fit.
๐ดโโ ๏ธ Pirates Cove Boat & RV Storageโฆ this name draws on that small little tackle shop that I remember so much from my childhood, and also draws on my alma mater mascot, the Pirates.
Iโve added a few old pictures I found on google of the old Pirates Cove Marina, I actually have the old road sign hanging in my shop right now. Iโve tried to revive the old name and keep it in the area. Itโs always a reminder of the old days and simpler times I remember from the old Pirates Cove Marina.
Yโall tell me if you remember any of these photos of the old landing and marina!
