Pepper Bird International is an international charitable organization dedicated to providing ongoing educational opportunities for adults and underserved populations to foster personal and professional development. We, at Pepper bird International, believe lifelong learning is a path towards opportunity and fulfillment. As a proud Liberian citizen, and civil war survivor, I have watched an entire generation of people not be afforded the privilege of an education due to a 14-year civil war that ravaged my small West African Nation. Due to the soaring rate of illiteracy, it is nearly impossible to discontinue the use of a “thumb” print on legal documents as a signature. These non-traditional students, are not being served by the government or private schools to offer them the means to improve their literacy and basic skills. Pepper Bird International seeks to fill that void first in Liberia, and then in our neighbor Sierra Leone which unfortunately has a similar history of civil war. [Why Literacy?]
