Edgar Evins State Park Edgar Evins is a 6,500-acre recreational park located on beautiful Center Hill Lake. This park spans over 6000 acres around the shores of Center Hill Lake.

At this park you can view an abundance of wildlife including a few rare birds. Visitors can camp or stay in cabins at the park. The lake offers a marina and a restaurant, and the park also has a gift shop. More information on this park and many more can be found at the TN State Parks website.

This was our first week of Jr. Rangers. We had 15 kids ranging from 5 years old to 10 years old join us. We had a good week learning about different topics, from water safety to different animals we have around the park. Each day was a new adventure of learning and growing. Today was the last day and we had a ceremony for all the kids by giving them Jr. Ranger badges and certificates. Their family joined us for that and we had a cookout meal for everyone. We want to give a special thank you to all the guardians and Friends Group for helping out this week.

Have you seen our new interpretive signage in front of our aviary by the Nature Center? One panel gives pictures and information of local raptors or birds of prey that you might see around the park. The other side is an interactive panel that allows you to compare your wingspan to those birds of prey on the other side. If you take pictures in front of it, don't forget to tag us so we can see!

It's the time of year for our Eastern Box Turtles to be out and about. You'll be seeing them crossing the road, which can make them a hazard for traffic.

If you see them, slow down and be on the lookout for other turtles that may be by. If it is safe to do so, you can help them cross the road in the direction that they are moving. Box Turtles spend their lives in relatively small area and struggle if they are moved outside of that. If you do help them across the street, make sure that you wash your hands after.

Keep an eye out for these friends and remember to drive safe in the park.

We had a wonderful turn out for our Annual Kid's Fishing Classic. We had about 30 young fishermen come out and between them, TEN fish were caught. We give out the top prizes to the largest fish caught which was 7 and a 1/2 inches long and the smallest which was 4 and 3/4 inches long.

Our Annual Kid's Fishing Classic is this Saturday 13th, 2026!
Registration opens at 8:15 am
Tournament time is 9 am to 11 am
It will be at the Peninsula next to our Courtesy Dock. This fishing event is free for ages 1-12. Bring your own rod and tackle/bait to use. If you don't have a fishing rod, no problem. We will have a limited number of rods and bait that people can use. Prizes will be awarded after the tournament.

👋Hello👋 My name is Joseph and I will be the Seasonal Interpretive Ranger (SIR) this summer at Edgar Evins State Park.

🎒I'm going to school at Tennessee Tech with my degree in Wildlife and Fisheries with an emphasis in Conservation with a plan to hopefully be a full time Interpretive Ranger.

🐍 There are many programs I'm excited to lead this summer from crafts, to talking about plants and animals, and even learning to drive a boat to lead pontoon tours.

Fun about me:
📖 I love to read! I was very excited to see that we have a Book Exchange in the camp store. I will be utilizing that this summer. Also, if you love books like me, I will be doing nature bookmarks throughout the summer.

🌲Hope y'all can join me on some of my programs this summer at Edgar Evins.
