The first thing I would say about this is "What was I thinking?" :) The JD317 was a great tractor. Lucky for me the very next day this nice guy called me up and convinced me to keep it. He told me where to find an engine that I could just drop in for $100 and it wasn't too far away. So my wife and jumped in the car to go check it out and when we got there the guy was selling his entire JD317 not just the engine. We brought it home, cleaned it up, installed the engine and discovered we had a nice heavy duty garden tractor. To be continued..............
