Eight years. Five expeditions. It all started with one recommendation. 🤘

In 2018, a friend pointed him towards the Dirty Dozen. He filled out an enquiry form, and about five minutes later, Aron was calling him on WhatsApp. 😂

That call led to our first-ever Galapagos expedition — mola mola, rare encounters and a boat full of great people. A trip he’s still talking about eight years later.

We caught up with him this month in Bikini Atoll, on his FIFTH expedition with us, to hear where it all began.

SOME COMMUTES ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS. 🦈

Rush hour in the Galápagos, and Dallas Simpson has found a pretty good place to watch the traffic.

First, the photographer. Then, the traffic up close through his lens. 👀

With no stream of exhaled bubbles, CCR diving offers a quieter way to watch the blue. Sometimes, the traffic comes right past the camera.

This is why we keep coming back to the real Jurassic Park.

Want to join in August 2028? Both expeditions welcome open-circuit (OC) and closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) divers, with separate dive groups and itineraries suited to each. You don’t need a rebreather to join us — just the required qualifications and experience for your chosen setup.

Ten years after joining the first-ever Dirty Dozen trip, Mark Powell announces his return as expedition leader for two special departures in October 2028 in Truk Lagoon. A familiar face, legendary wrecks, and a chance to celebrate a decade of diving together. 🙌

We’ll be exploring aboard Odyssey, with two extended dives a day and time to get to know the wrecks beyond a quick look around. Mark will be on hand to coordinate the diving and buddy teams, helping everyone get the most out of their expedition.

And the conversations won’t stop when we’re back on deck. Expect evening talks on decompression theory, the latest research, and stories from other diving destinations—plenty to get stuck into between the dives. 🤿💬
