Tonight, families across America will make plans for tomorrow, say goodnight to loved ones, and go to sleep expecting another ordinary day.
Twenty-five years ago, thousands of Americans did the same.
On the morning of September 11, 2001:
246 passengers and crew members boarded four flights, expecting to arrive safely at their destinations.
Thousands of men and women reported for work at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and 8 paramedics answered the call to serve and protect, never knowing the sacrifice that day would demand.
By the end of that morning, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost, and countless families, friends, coworkers, and communities would be forever changed.
For those of us in aviation, September 11th is more than a date in history. It changed the way we fly, the way we secure our airports, and the way we view the responsibility that comes with connecting people through flight. But it also revealed the very best of America: courage, selflessness, resilience, and unity.
At , we pause to remember every passenger, flight crew member, first responder, military member, and civilian whose life was taken that day. We honor the heroes who ran toward danger when others were seeking safety. We remember the families who continue to carry that loss. And we remain grateful for the strength of a nation that stood together in the aftermath.
