What are Incoterms® ? At BTX, we're here to help break down logistics terms like these so you can ship with confidence. Incoterms® (International Commercial Terms) are standardized trade rules published by the International Chamber of Commerce. They spell out the responsibilities of buyers and sellers in a global shipment, including:
• Who arranges and pays for transport
• Who handles customs clearance
• Where risk transfers from seller to buyer
• Who covers insurance
A few you'll see often:
- EXW (Ex Works): Buyer takes on nearly everything from the seller's door
- FOB (Free On Board): Seller is responsible until goods are loaded on the vessel (ocean freight only)
- DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): Seller handles everything through delivery, including duties and taxes

🍎 It’s apple harvest season, and those apples are about to start a long journey.

The U.S. grows about 263 million bushels of apples a year, and about two-thirds of them come from Washington state. Many end up thousands of miles from the orchard. About 1 in 4 fresh-market U.S. apples is exported, and 58% of those exports go to our closest neighbors, Mexico and Canada.

Some apples go overland across the border. Others spend up to 40 days on a container ship out of Seattle or Tacoma to markets like Taiwan, Vietnam and India. Either way, it takes careful planning, temperature control and reliable partners to get them there fresh.

SERVICE ALERT: Hurricane Isaias is headed for a Gulf Coast landfall Friday night with life-threatening storm surge, rainfall flooding and high winds. It will then spread its heavy rain and wind inland over the Southeast this weekend. Friday’s outbound line haul departures from Pensacola (PNS) and Mobile (MOB) have been canceled as a precaution for driver safety, while local pickup and delivery services are expected to continue with minimal disruption. Tallahassee (TLH) and Jackson (JAN) anticipate normal operations, and all locations will continue monitoring conditions for potential service impacts into next week.

BTX will be closely monitoring the situation and reaching out to reschedule/discuss alternate pickup and delivery options for your shipments, where necessary. For more weather updates, click here:
