๐ช๏ธ Road to Recovery After Hurricanes Helene & Milton ๐ช๏ธ
As states impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton work toward recovery, weโre starting to see progress in reopening vital transportation routes.
In North Carolina, over 600 roads have reopened, including parts of Interstate 40, after being severely damaged by Hurricane Helene. However, state officials caution that the recovery process will be long, and they urge non-essential travelers to avoid impacted areas. ๐ง
Tennessee is also making strides, with I-40 moving closer to reopening for local traffic only, although detours remain in place for commercial vehicles. Exciting news for East Tennessee, too: the Nolichucky River bridges, destroyed by Helene, are on track to be replaced and reopened this summer! ๐
In Florida, flooding from Hurricane Milton continues to affect interstate ramps and state roads. Check for updates if youโre driving in the area. The good news is that major bridges like the Sunshine Skyway and Howard Frankland have reopened! ๐
While the road to full recovery will take time, progress is being made every day. Stay safe, and follow local authorities for updates if youโre traveling in any of these affected areas. ๐
