Who would we be if we let National Dog Day go by without a post about the real brains and inspiration behind our mission!

Jack hardly ever smiles, has perpetual RBF, and he doesn't like most people (Electric City Canines has helped immensely with that part, and we are so grateful!) but he is our heart and soul 💚

We are heading into our busy season so we thought we would try out The Chef Pantry for some quick and easy meals. So glad we did!

Chef hand delivered my bag of goodies this morning. I had the Pantry Nuggs and potatoes for lunch today and let me tell you....they were DELICIOUS! The espresso BBQ sauce was the icing on the cake too! Clean, fresh ingredients - and you can tell everything is made and packed with so much care.

Couldn't think of a better option for those super busy school days coming up or even for when you just want someone else to do the cooking for you!

I can't wait to try the rest of the food we picked out.

Paul and I adore our neighbors on Shadowbrook Drive here in Tunkhannock, and our hearts are absolutely breaking for them. Douglas has been missing since August 13, and we truly understand the fear and helplessness that comes with having a beloved dog missing.

I am reaching out to my rescue network because I am honestly at a loss with this one. We live in a heavily wooded area on a mountain, and Douglas could be anywhere. There have been no confirmed sightings.

How do you effectively set up feeding stations, trail cameras, traps, or a search strategy in terrain like this?

I am asking anyone who has LEGITIMATE lost dog search and recovery experience, especially experience tracking dogs in heavily wooded or mountainous areas, to please reach out. If you know a reputable tracker, search and recovery organization, trapping expert, or someone with proven experience, please tag them or send their information.

Unfortunately, situations like this also bring out scammers and people providing false sightings or asking desperate families for money. Please only share legitimate, verifiable resources and information.

Douglas is a large black English Lab. He is very friendly and is NOT wearing a collar.

He went missing from Shadowbrook Drive in Tunkhannock, PA on August 13, 2026, after running up over the mountain. The Stone Hedge and Lake Winola areas are possibilities, but there have been NO confirmed sightings.

Please do not assume someone else will share this. The right person seeing this post could be what finally brings Douglas home.

Please share throughout Tunkhannock, Lake Winola, and the surrounding areas. We just want to help our neighbors bring their boy home.

WE’RE OFFICIALLY OPEN TOMORROW!!!!

After a very long road, Steamtown Veterinary Center will officially open our doors tomorrow!!!

Beginning tomorrow, 08/22/2026, we’ll be here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For anyone who is new to our page, Steamtown Veterinary Center is a privately owned veterinary hospital created to provide Northeastern Pennsylvania with emergency veterinary care when your pet is sick, injured, or needs immediate care.

We are not here to replace your regular veterinarian. We’re here to work alongside the amazing general practices in our community by providing emergency and urgent care, hospitalization, surgery, diagnostics, and continued care when your regular veterinarian may not be available.

Our hospital is equipped for:
• Emergency and urgent veterinary care
• 24 hour hospitalization and monitoring
• Emergency and urgent surgery
• Soft tissue surgery
• Dentistry, dental radiographs, and oral surgery
• Digital X-rays
• Ultrasound
• In house laboratory testing
• Oxygen support and critical care
• And more

For now, we will primarily be seeing dogs and cats. We may have veterinarians working who have a special interest or experience in exotic animal medicine. When those doctors are scheduled, we’ll let everyone know that exotic appointments or emergencies may be available during those specific shifts.

At this time, we do not have any exotic focused shifts scheduled, so for now, please consider us a dogs and cats only hospital unless we announce otherwise.

Starting tomorrow, if your pet needs us, we’re here, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
