Bees don’t care how long you’ve been doing this.
They don’t care how many hives you run.
They don’t care what worked last year.

They respond to timing.
To balance.
To respect.

The moment ego enters beekeeping, problems follow.

Forcing growth.
Ignoring warning signs.
Refusing to adapt.

We’ve learned — sometimes the hard way — that good beekeeping isn’t about proving you’re right.

It’s about noticing when you’re wrong.

The bees will always tell you what they need…
but only if you’re humble enough to listen.

That lesson has shaped how we keep bees, how we teach, and how we show up for our community.

Not as experts above others —
but as students of the hive, just like everyone else.

🐝 Follow along if you believe stewardship matters more than ego.

Nationwide honey bee colony losses have exceeded 50%, threatening pollination ahead of the 2025 almond season. Some beekeepers have lost up to 100% of their colonies. These losses echo past Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and could impact pollination and food production. Let’s work together to protect our pollinators!🐝

These alarming statistics were shared by Project Apis m. and industry leaders.

California almond orchards have turned snowy white, signaling the start of bloom. However, beekeepers say that bee mortality rates are at an all-time high, and they are concerned there may not be enough honeybees to pollinate the 2025 almond crop. “The commercial beekeeping industry is experiencing significant hive loses nationwide,” said Ryan Burris, president of the California State Beekeepers Association.

I think some of us seen this coming. 🥺

We are alive- and so are our bees!

Normally that might not be a shocking update, but this year it is. The commercial beekeeping community has sustained unprecedented losses prompting emergency USDA meetings, hive shortages, inflated pollination prices and general panic in the entire ag industry.

The Lord has been incredibly gracious to us. 90% of our hives that we brought from Nebraska survived the winter and were contracted for pollination (we didn't get any of those inflated prices but that's okay with us, we don't believe in price gouging anyway!)

Most orchards have not released hives, most varieties should be releasing hives this week with a few hives remaining on hard shell varieties until next week. Overall, we are incredibly blessed and satisfied with this year's turn out.

We always hope to make a California harvest before we return so that is the first order of business upon leaving Almonds. After that, we are eyeing a return date to Nebraska in early to mid May this year.

Successful pollination and return to Nebraska is only the very beginning of MANY exciting updates we have in store for 2025! Stay tuned & may the Lord bless and keep you all! 👀🌸🐝
