The City of Seward invites the community to attend a public open house on Tuesday, October 27, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Seward Community Library.

Come learn more about the Waterfront Plan and Wayfinding Plan, explore ideas, and share your thoughts on the future of Seward’s waterfront and how people navigate our community.

Your input matters! We encourage residents, local businesses, and community members to stop by, ask questions, and help shape the future of Seward.

All water has now been shut off throughout the Seward Harbor for the winter season.

Water service will remain off until spring. Please make sure all hoses and water connections have been disconnected and properly stored for the winter.

Beginning October 3, 2026, the Seward Harbor Office will transition to our winter office hours.

🗓️ Winter Office Hours:
Monday–Saturday | 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
Closed Sundays

🐦 Interested in Helping Monitor Alaska’s Beaches? 🌊

The Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST) is hosting a Beached Bird Surveyor Training based in Alaska on August 5, 2026, and they are looking for volunteers!

COASST volunteers come from all different backgrounds, but they all share a love of the beach and an interest in helping scientists better understand Alaska’s coastal environment. Volunteers participate in monthly beach surveys and help collect valuable information about seabirds and the health of our marine ecosystems.

If you enjoy spending time on the beach and would like to make a difference while getting outside once a month, this could be a great opportunity for you!

If you’re interested in learning more or signing up, please reach out to the COASST team or visit the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST) website for more information.

⚠️ Phone Service Outage Notice ⚠️

The Seward Harbor Office is currently experiencing a system-wide phone outage that is preventing us from making phone calls . At this time, we do not have an estimated time for when service will be restored.

If you need immediate assistance, please contact us by email at [email protected] or visit the Harbor Office in person during normal business hours.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while the issue is being resolved. We will provide an update as soon as phone service has been restored.

UPDATE: USCG VHF Ch 16 distress listening watch has been restored.

The Coast Guard does not have a Channel 16 distress listening watch in the following areas: Seward, Southwestern PWS, Resurrection Bay, and Blying Sound. Mariners are requested to relay distress calls in these areas to the nearest Coast Guard unit or contact Coast Guard Sector Western Alaska and U.S. Arctic at (866) 396-1361.
