📚📦 Smart protection built right into the design.

Our team developed this custom corrugated shipping solution for books, with one major goal in mind: protecting the corners during transit.

Instead of using separate protective pieces, the inserts were engineered directly into the one-piece folder design itself. Once folded, the structure creates a unique “picture frame” around the book, helping keep edges and corners protected throughout shipping.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful structural design can improve protection while keeping packaging efficient and easy to assemble.

Our design team recently created this gravity-fed, refillable dog waste bag dispenser - a compact corrugated solution with a narrow shelf profile designed for easy access and quick refills.

Simple idea, smart structure and proof that with the right design, corrugated can help clean up just about any mess. 🐾😄

Tuesday! This week, we’re spotlighting the faces behind so many of the designs we share, our incredible design team: Sean O’Connor, George German, and Chris Bauer. 📦💡

We’re always showcasing the finished products, but behind every sample, display, insert, and structural solution is a team working hard to bring ideas to life. From turning around customer samples the very same day to solving complex packaging challenges, these three play a huge role in keeping Atlas moving forward.

Whether it’s engineering intricate packaging solutions, fine-tuning designs for performance and efficiency, or helping customers visualize the perfect fit for their products, Sean, George, and Chris consistently go above and beyond.

Their work also extends beyond the production floor. George recently spearheaded our philanthropic collaboration with Harford Financial Group and Our Daily Bread by designing and assisting with custom donation boxes used to help transport meals for those in need.

Creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, dedication - this group continues to bring it all every day. We are grateful to have them leading the way in design at Atlas. 💪📦

Yesterday we showcased a few examples of custom RSC samples and how they get shipped. Now take a look at our Kongsberg cutting table cutting out their OPF shippers. 📦✂️

Since RSCs can be made in so many different sizes, an OPF shipper allows us to safely and efficiently package a variety of samples all in one box. It’s a simple idea backed by precise cutting and thoughtful design.

📦 Anyone need an RSC?

The RSC is the most common style of corrugated box for shipping - and for good reason. All flaps are the same length, and the outer two flaps meet in the middle when closed. It’s simple, efficient, and can be customized to fit just about any product.

Since this style does not require a fixed cutting die and can be easily customized to almost any size, most businesses will order it to a size that perfectly fits their product.

When a customer is looking for that custom fit, our team designs the box, cuts a sample, and then creates an OPF (one-piece folder) to safely ship those samples out.

This Tuesday, we’re proud to spotlight Calvin Williams, who celebrated an incredible 33 years with Atlas Container this past April. 🎉

Calvin’s journey is a true example of growth and dedication, bringing decades of hands-on experience to everything he does. He started as a general helper, ran a machine, worked his way up to supervisor, and now serves as our Quality Control Manager.

Along the way, he has continuously invested in himself through self-improvement courses and active involvement with the AICC - demonstrating a strong commitment to learning, taking initiative, and better serving both our team and our customers.

Known for giving his all every day, Calvin takes pride in mentoring others, driving high standards, and ensuring quality is at the forefront of our operations. As our Plant Manager Lavell put it: “He’s awesome, gives 100% daily, and really does care about Atlas.”

Calvin’s passion for continuous improvement and his belief that quality is about both process and relationships make him an invaluable part of Team Atlas.
