We have just finished another round of van builds! Phew! One van is home with its owner in San Diego. The other one (below) has a beautiful new aesthetic with tan walls and acacia wood accents. We’re already thinking about the next round of vans starting later this year. 😅

This is what a month’s worth of prepping and van work looks like. It may not seem like much at first, but this van already has most of the grunt work completed! Following our typical build sequence, we’ve accomplished (for both vans): moving into our new work space, electrical wiring, fan installation, window installation, partial insulation, foam and fabric on the ribs (not pictured as complete), most of the ceiling installed, and all the wall panels cut out and ready to be covered in fabric. That’s a lot of time consuming work!
Out of all the projects, I think gluing foam and fabric takes the longest. It takes about one 8-hour day per van to glue foam on the ribs and then another day to glue fabric (so four 8-hour days total for both vans).
I consider us slightly ahead of schedule, at this point! 😍

I’ve started thinking of color schemes for our 2022 builds. It’s going to be really hard to beat this Havasu theme… Let me know your suggestions in the comments!

P.s. Peep that inset wall extending the bed length. 😍 Love that we’re offering that as an option now, for the taller people out there.

The cabinets in our vans are framed with a prefabricated extruded aluminum profile, creating a lightweight, durable and strong structure that won’t splinter or break in the event of an accident. Every structure in the van is bolted directly to the van’s metal ribs, ensuring everything stays where it’s supposed to at all times. This approach also makes the van interior very modular - Even though they’re super secure, pulling the cabinets off the wall is quick and easy!

It took years to perfect this design, but it was worth it. In the absence of a standard for van conversion design and construction, we feel this approach produces the safest and best quality camper van.
