King County International Airport - also known as Boeing Field - is one of the busiest p

rimary non-hub airports in the nation. Just four miles south of downtown Seattle, we average around 180,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings each year. The airport serves small commercial passenger airlines, cargo carriers, private aircraft owners, helicopters, corporate jets, and military and other aircraft. We are also home to the Boeing Company’s 737 aircraft delivery center, along with other Boeing operations. The Museum of Flight is located on the west side of the airfield, with its wide variety of aircraft and exhibits showcasing aviation history. We frequently play host to celebrities, sports teams, and dignitaries, including the President of the United States, who prefer our airfield because of its proximity to downtown Seattle and other commercial areas. King County International Airport ranks among the most successful public investments in state history. The airport's economic impact is $3.5 billion in terms of local business sales that support more than 16,000 jobs and create $2 billion in labor income in the county. Our 150 tenant businesses also directly support more than 5,000 jobs in the local economy.

We're proud to be the first airport in the nation, and the entire Western Hemisphere, to earn the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) Certification.

The IEnvA program helps airports and other air transport industry stakeholders towards greater environmental sustainability. Receiving this certification helps us on our journey to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

Our small utility runway is back open after a six-month pavement rehabilitation project. Early this morning, the BETA Technologies ALIA CTOL was the first aircraft to take off from the "new" Runway 14L/32R. This all-electric aircraft represents the future of aviation, and the event was a fitting way to put the runway back into active service.

Thank you to all who attended the Vision 2045 Open House at KCIA on Sept. 25. If you were unable to attend, there’s still time to review and share input on the alternatives the airport is considering. Your input will help shape plans for how the airport can adapt and evolve to meet future aviation needs.

To review the draft alternatives and share input, please visit the Vision 2045 Airport Plan and Part 150 Study website, KCIAplanning.com. Comments on the draft alternatives will be accepted until 5 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on Oct. 17, 2025.
