ODOT is celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the Bike Bill . This historic legislation was the first of its kind in the nation, requiring road projects to include accommodations for bicyclists and pedestrians and designating at least 1% of highway funds for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

The Oregon Coast Bicycle Route is one of the most popular long-distance cycling routes in the United States, attracting local, national and international visitors each year. The new map provides route guidance, tourism information, and important travel resources for cyclists navigating the coast, where cellular and internet service can often be unreliable.

ODOT has released a bicycle map. It’s the first time the map has been published in nearly a decade.

Save on gas, take POINT or Amtrak Cascades. It costs $5 to book your bike on the train, and you can also bring your bike on POINT for free, but space is limited. Get your bike to Portland, and then take POINT to the coast.

Customs preclearance launches at Vancouver, BC station

Border crossings are now faster and easier for US-bound Amtrak Cascades passengers as Pacific Central Station in Vancouver, British Columbia is named first preclearance rail facility in North America.

Beginning June 8, 2026, Amtrak Cascades passengers traveling south into the United States experience streamlined customs inspections, with no secondary stop in Blaine, WA.
