Sunday was our last regularly scheduled operating session of the year. Had a newcomer, lots of neighbors, and a couple old friend’s that hadn’t run waybills here in about 15 years. One of our regular operators showed up late so we ended up doing the first ever official dusk into night waybills on the railroad. Perfect weather made for a nice way to end the summer 🚂🍁

I’ve been learning this Accucraft Climax more and more. I took her back out again this evening to play with some things. What a beautiful engine. Fun fact — most names on the railway are either named after an actual location in the Washington State. Buckner Orchard comes from the valleys of Stehekin.

Photos from today’s operating session on Dave “The Curmudgeon” Goodson’s Colorado Consolidated Railway 🚂 I’ve been running here since 1999. A lifetime of memories out here. We used to run every Friday night year round in pouring rain, snow, whatever. Dave’s railroad was one of the great inspirations behind our own railway. I’ll never forget the day my 9yo self walked into this scene with my dad. Literally changed the entire course of our lives. Garden trains can really bring an eclectic group of people together.

Due to life and death and health reasons in the community the runnings these days are less frequent. It was great to see so many people make it out today. These railways won’t be around forever, including the TFL&M Co., so I highly encourage getting out to enjoy them while we still can.

We had a nice opening day for this year’s operations. Even brought out the new steam at the end of the day 🚂 Perfect weather and a small but wonderful group. The railroad ran perfectly and looked great, so I can always appreciate that. All of the hundreds and thousands of little details that get attended to, most will never be known. Dad and I learned long ago that most of the details go unnoticed by many, but that’s not why you do them 🫡😉
