Back to school essentials:
Backpack, water bottle, notebook, laptop, ORCA card!

Today marks the start of the fifth school year with Free Youth Transit Pass, the program that provides young people with access to school, work, activities and so much more.

Youth 18 and younger throughout Washington can ride regional transit for free. The Youth ORCA card taps helps transit agencies understand where and when people are riding, which helps planners improve service.

Kinda chic to experience Seattle Summer via transit 🚌☀️

As Summer comes to a close, we begin to say goodbye to our Summer services:

🚍 Today, Aug.30, is the last day of Trailhead Direct and Golden Gardens Direct.

🚌 Monday, Sept. 7, is the last day of the Waterfront Shuttle.

⛴️ Friday, October 9, is the last day of the Water Taxi Summer Sailing Schedule (including late night West Seattle runs and Sunday sailings to/from Vashon).

Meet Tamieko Cook, our Operator of the Year!

Tamieko is a South Base operator, with 30 years of service to her community. This award represents the best of the best at Metro, and we're honored to celebrate her!

Her mom was a transit operator in the '80s for 12 years and encouraged her to apply just before her 21st birthday. She followed in her footsteps straight into the drivers' seat for Metro.

After a few years at Metro, she took a brief detour in the United States Air Force as a B‑52 engine mechanic. She returned to Metro and continued shaping her path at Metro, including union leadership.

On-demand transit is coming to South King County!

We're launching new Metro Flex pilots in and , starting Aug. 31.

Metro Flex provides connections between neighborhoods, transit hubs, jobs and more. Riders can book trips through the Metro Flex app or by phone, with rides provided in Metro-operated minivans.

Rides cost the same as a standard Metro bus fare and transfers are free to a bus or light rail.

💻 North King County: 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 24
💻 South King County: 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26 (Spanish interpretation available)
