Houston Yacht Club's 2026 Houston Open One Design Regatta saw 9 one design classes wait patiently for a light SE breeze to fill. RC managed 6 races for the J/105 fleet over 2 days and the shifty, patchy breeze made for some passing lanes. "Spitfire" had excellent boat speed to windward and was able to secure the win. Thank you Bill Mead, and crew for handling the corners very well. Special fun racing against my daughter on "Infinity" and playing "boat hands" debriefing after the races.

Pretty nice start, more boat speed at the gun would have been perfect. Last years HYC Hood. Looking forward to. HYC Hood 2026 with "Spitfire" again.

Really enjoyed sailing with my daughter Kelly at the helm for the GBCA Women's Regatta. She sailed very well. We had boat speed issues versus the other J/105s, but very close. Excellent crew work in the corners with no issues sail handling: with many thanks to Daniel, Josh, Coco, Rachel and Sherry. That was a lot of fun.
