Boat Ramp Etiquette: The Dos and Don'ts for a Swift Boat Launch
There's no quicker way to spark confrontation than to be the person that hogs the boat ramp doing things you should have done in your driveway or in the staging area. Spare yourself and others the unnecessary frustrations at the boat ramp by following these simple ramp etiquette dos and don'ts.
Dos:
DO use the staging area for pre-launch preparations.
DO mount your navigation lights before approaching the ramp.
DO respect the traffic lines.
DO turn off your headlights while getting into position at the boat
ramp to prevent the headlights from pointing straight at the boaters
that are backing down the ramp.
Don’ts:
DON’T socialize while at the ramp. Get your boat launched and catch
up later with your friends.
DON’T hog the ramp. Stay in your designated lane.
DON'T park your boat in the way of others trying to use the boat
ramp.
DON'T tie-up to other people's boats without first asking for
permission.
Follow these simple boat ramp etiquettes and get ready to enjoy a nice relaxing day on the water!
