Mark your calendars! Brake Safety Week is coming up August 23–29, and this year’s focus is on the condition of brake drums and rotors.

During your pre-trip and post-trip inspections, check for cracks, missing pieces, heavy rust, deep grooves, and other signs of wear or damage. Catching these issues early can help prevent brake failure, costly violations, and serious accidents.

Take the time to inspect your equipment, report any concerns, and make sure your brakes are ready for the road. Safety starts before the wheels start turning!

Congratulations to Jeremy L., our July Contractor of the Month!

Jeremy has been with DMT since 2024 and has made a lasting impact during his time here. In March, he reached an incredible milestone of 500,000 safe miles. When Jeremy isn't behind the wheel, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. He also wanted to give a special thank you to his Driver Manager, John, for his support.

John shared this when nominating Jeremy: "He is an exemplary contractor, as well as being one of the most laid-back and easy-going guys I have ever known, a true pleasure to work with. We both have high expectations of each other, which creates a work environment where we push one another to be the best that we can be while also being safe. Jeremy always has a great attitude, even when something doesn't go the way we want it to. He keeps his spirits up and looks for ways to turn the situation around for the good. When something does go wrong that is out of our hands, he does a great job communicating the issue."

Congratulations to our July Driver of the Month, Alvin R.!

Alvin joined the in October 2025 and brings more than 40 years of trucking experience to the road. He works with Driver Manager Demisha H. out of our Birmingham terminal and is committed to safety, professionalism, and doing things the right way every day.

Outside of the truck, Alvin enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, riding motorcycles, and playing cards.

Recently, we had the privilege of celebrating our 2025 Contractor of the Year, Chip L., alongside the people who have supported him every step of the way. Chip was joined by his wife, daughter, and son in law as we recognized this well deserved accomplishment and the dedication that earned him this honor.

Life on the road requires commitment, sacrifice, and countless hours away from home. Those sacrifices are made not only by our contractors, but by their families as well. Their dedication and support make what we do possible, and we are grateful for each of them.

The celebration was an opportunity to thank Chip not only for his outstanding performance, but for the professionalism, reliability, and commitment he brings to DMT Trucking every single day.
