IR-2024-253, Oct. 1, 2024 — The Internal Revenue Service today announced disaster tax relief for all individuals and businesses affected by Hurricane Helene, including the entire states of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina and parts of Florida, Tennessee and Virginia.

IRS has granted tax filing deadline extension for Florida counties affected by Debby. This list includes Sarasota and Manatee counties. The extended deadline for tax returns and some payments is Feb 3, 2025.

IR-2024-205, Aug. 9, 2024 — The Internal Revenue Service today announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in four states affected by Hurricane Debby.

For those taxpayers that qualify for a second stimulus payment, be aware that it may come in the form of a prepaid debit card. It may not be a scam. We are hearing that some taxpayers believe it is a scam and are throwing them away. Please use diligence. Also note that there are $2 fees for out of network atm withdrawal, .25 ATM balance inquiry fee, and $5 bank teller over the counter cash withdrawal.
