Meet Sky
Sky is one of the amazing biologist at Sarasota Bay Explorers. Sky has earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from New College of Florida. Sky’s background includes volunteer work in peer mentoring at their elementary school, volunteering at a local veterinary hospital, and an internship with the Student Conservation Association at De Soto National Memorial, where they trained as a ranger.
Outside of work, Sky enjoys drawing and has a particular love for sea hares and other gastropods. Sky’s favorite part of working in environmental education is inspiring people of all ages to care about the environment and the wildlife that surrounds them.

The toadfish jaw is incredibly powerful and capable of generating crushing forces that can easily shatter the hard shells of oysters, clams, and crabs. That’s one strong bite!

Meet Captain Kayla
Growing up, some of Kayla’s favorite memories were spent on the water fishing and boat camping with family. Boats have always been a major part of her life, and that passion for the water continues today both personally and professionally.
Kayla attended Sea School and currently holds a 50 Ton Master Captain’s license while working toward earning her 100 Ton license.
When she’s not on the water with guests, Kayla loves spending time outdoors. Her favorite activities include scuba diving, kayaking and paddle boarding with her golden retriever, Libi. Hiking and playing fetch while searching for shark teeth along the beach are favorite pastimes.
Kayla’s favorite parts about working with Sarasota Bay Explorers is meeting new people and sharing some of her favorite places on the water while creating memorable adventures for guests.
