July–October is sea turtle season, and there’s 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙙!

🥚 Hatchlings can make tiny chirping and squeaking sounds before they even hatch.

🐢 They use an “egg tooth” called a caruncle to break out of their shells—a process called pipping.

🌊 Once they start emerging, they work together to loosen the sand and climb toward the surface. When many hatch at once, it’s called a “boil”—and it’s an incredible sight!

🌡️ And here’s a wild fact: sand temperature helps determine their s*x. Warmer sand generally produces more females, while cooler sand produces more males.
