An NMDOT contractor, under the oversight of the District Six Milan Project Office 1, is performing polyurethane injections along US 550 between Cuba and San Ysidro to help address roadway settlement and improve pavement support.

This work is part of NMDOT’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve New Mexico’s transportation infrastructure.

Please slow down, stay alert, and use caution when traveling through work zones.

After all the recent flooding in southern New Mexico the NMDOT District One Anthony Patrol was happy to recieve a new piece of equipment this week.

The Patrol put this loader right to work in the yard and it will also be out on roadways helping to keep right of ways maintained for the traveling public.

Usually, NMDOT Patrols are doing all they can to keep drivers on the road but sometimes vehicles leave the road for different reasons.

District Three’s Tijeras Maintenance Patrol recently assisted at the scene of an emergency crash involving a semi-truck within the patrol area.

Our crews worked alongside emergency responders to help secure the area, assist with traffic control, and support efforts to keep motorists and responders safe while the scene was being cleared.

Incidents like this are a reminder that our maintenance crews do much more than roadway maintenance.

When emergencies happen, they are often among the crews helping behind the scenes to keep traffic moving and provide a safer work area for everyone responding.

Please remember when approaching an emergency scene, slow down, move over when possible, and give crews plenty of room to work safely.

Clean up and assessments of damage caused by the rains in September are continuing.

Heavy flooding over the past two weeks sent significate amounts of water and debris through the bridge on County Road 395 (Alamo Canyon Road) over the Rio Hondo.

Following the flooding, an NMDOT District Two bridge inspector went out to assess the bridge, inspect for damage, and remove accumulated debris from the structure and surrounding area.

The high water and debris have impacted the bridge, and additional repairs will be needed as we continue to assess the extent of the damage.

These conditions are a reminder of how quickly water levels and roadway conditions can change during severe weather.

Public Information Officer (DOT/D4 #21031)

Position will monitor and maintain an inventory of performance measures for all work units, ie. construction, maintenance and administration within NMDOT District Four.

Develop and implement improvement strategies regarding current processes and procedures in addition to being responsible for applying for various quality awards and grants where the District meets the eligible criteria.

Position will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the District brochures, publications, and Employee Recognition Program.

Will be the main contact for the New Mexico Roads Website, local and state news agencies and act as the spokesperson regarding District news and events.

You probably see one or two patrol yards when you are making you daily trips and don't even notice them.

NMDOT has 82 local patrols across the state and some of those structures have been there for over 50 years.

This week on NMDOT Far & Wide we are cathing up with the Statewide Facilities Director for Special Projects and the work he doing to update these yards and buildings.

The Draft New Mexico 2050 Freight Plan is now available for public review and comments here https://nmdot-statewide-freight-plan-nmdot.hub.arcgis.com/pages/materials

The plan describes the current state of freight in New Mexico and looks ahead to 2050 and the future of freight transportation in New Mexico.

It sets the direction for NMDOT’s actions and investments in the state's freight transportation system.

The plan responds both to federal requirements for state freight plans and to the state's own priorities and goals.

NMDOT developed the New Mexico 2050 Freight Plan based on technical analyses and input from partners and industry professionals.

And now we want to hear from you!
