NMDOT District Two welcomed the public, along with state and community leaders, to a ribbon‑cutting and dedication ceremony officially naming the Roswell Relief Route as the Nancy Lopez Relief Route.

The designation followed Senate Memorial 6 and was approved by the New Mexico State Transportation Commission earlier this year.

Nancy Lopez attended the event which also featured remarks from leaders, a ribbon‑cutting and the unveiling of the new route sign.

New signs are up marking the newly renamed route.

Throwback Thursday with a bird's-eye view of the parking lot.

Plant a seed and 67 years later you'll a very big tree.

Looks like meals have been available at this intersection for a long time. The black and white has a burger stand and today it's burritos.

When you think of NMDOT crews painting where you travel most often it's the crew painting stripes to mark lanes but sometimes there's other painting happening near the road.

This week on the New Mexico Department of Transportation's weekly program called 'NMDOT Far and Wide' we will meet a team that takes
care of painting that should not be where we drive.

Right here https://youtu.be/KrHryi8KRFg we catch up with the Graffiti Crew of District 5.

Meet this team of two and see their busy schedules through the lens of what “boots on the ground” looks like while we travel far and wide through the Land of Enchantment.

Clovis Regional Airport (KCVN)

The City of Clovis advanced a major modernization effort at Clovis Regional Airport with the construction of a new 20,000-square-foot passenger terminal, a $26.3 million project designed to meet rising commercial service demand.

The expansion will improve passenger flow, enhance security screening, and increase operational capacity while adding more than 90 public parking spaces and a new aircraft parking apron to support growing airline activity.

Funded primarily through an Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Airport Terminal Program grant—covering 80% of construction costs—the project also includes contributions from the NMDOT Aviation Division (18%) and the City of Clovis (2%).

In NMDOT District Six, paving operations are underway on northbound US 491 between Twin Lakes and Tohatchi.

Crews are placing a 1.5-inch asphalt overlay to improve the roadway surface and help extend the life of this important corridor.

Work is expected to continue through mid-September, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Please slow down, pay attention to traffic control, and watch for workers and equipment in the work zone.

Thank you for your patience while our crews work to improve New Mexico’s roadways.

Zippy is back to jog your memory on Monday morning.

As we wrap up August let's remember these rules on the road.

1 - The phone can wait until you stop
2 - Keep your blinkers in shape by using them
3 - Slow down when you see the orange cone and signs
4 - Driving and sleeping don't mix
5 - Cars and trucks aren't the only ones on the road
