An update on the meeting. The time we will be meeting will be at 1 pm and the location for the meeting will be at the mineshaft tavern, we’ll see you there! Just keep in mind we will not be working on the locomotive, her parts have been catalogued as she stands right now. This meeting will be to gain volunteers and management to help keep the project moving smoothly, as well as coming up with ideas on what order we should restore the locomotive.

Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

For those anxious to know what’s happening right now, we’re at a another waiting phase. So all the parts of the locomotive have been catalogued as they are right now so the locomotive can be transported into a “purpose built shed” right now our plan is to move the tender first. There should be more new coming as since the vaccine has come out, things have truly come back to normal. So if you would like to volunteer, we’ll be having a meeting July 31st to interview and accept volunteer for the officially established “friends of 769” you must be 18 and older as well as applying with osha standards. Meaning close soed shoes, hard hat, pants, and eye protection. and if you’re not 18 but are above 15 you must be accompanied by adult supervision while working at the site we’ll be posting an official schedule on the 13th of August. Until the big day we move we can only do so much as well as operating before the restaurant opens as not to disturb the customers. We can’t thank you enough for being so patient with us and we truly appreciate the support for such an obscure yet important locomotive.

Summer is finally here and we can get back to work on the locomotive. Currently we’re looking for volunteers who would like to help on Saturdays or Sundays. If there’s anyone who is willing to participate please contact us

Already this year has been much better than 2020, and thanks to the Santa Fe southern, the mineshaft tavern, and the New Mexico steam locomotive and railroad historic society, we have been able to do promising work to our lucky locomotive. The drivers have been dug up, and the tender has been deprived of clutter. The only downside is that someone tampered with the smoke box while we where gone.

The year is looking better already! A video is currently in the making which will educate the people of the history of our little Richmond. Fully Narrated by experienced railfan and army participant Christopher Kovacs. It is planned sometime this year the locomotive is gonna be moved slightly into a work shed that will be built between the Meuseum and the storage shed.

Happy new year everyone! And just as a little update, at the end of the month we’re gonna start a go fund me up again to get the locomotive restored, with an estimated cost of 800,000 dollars. We can’t thank everyone supporting enough for what love you have for Madrid’s living breathing treasure

Went to visit 769 last weekend after snow to make she wasn’t damaged or no parts had been stolen, once the COVID is over we’re gonna hopefully begin to dig up the locomotive in preparation for the slight movement

Ladies and gentlemen, currently we are entering operation stand by. This is a sort of hibernation stage where all the parts we have taken off are going to go back into the locomotive until 2021. With the weather getting cold and the restrictions getting harder we have decided to postpone work days until February 2021. Until then we will be preparing for a Christmas event hosted at the mineshaft tavern. Stay tuned for more news on that

For the past month we’ve been in a sort of sit and survive situation in which we just need to make sure people are on board still and the word is spreading fast. So until we get the publicity/people/money to move the locomotive from its resting place we will be putting small parts and bits back on until the time comes and we have a proper way to organize the removed parts. our Gofund me has been terminated for time being but will be back up by October. Your physical, financial, and physical support is greatly appreciated for bringing back this Santa Fe Legend
