$2 Shipping Labels Allegedly Cost USPS More Than $126 Million.
On September 22, 2026, a federal grand jury returned a 10-count indictment against 33-year-old Faheem Akram in connection with an alleged counterfeit postage operation that prosecutors say caused more than $126 million in losses to the U.S. Postal Service.
Federal prosecutors allege Akram operated LabelsBank.com, an unauthorized website that sold counterfeit USPS shipping labels online.
Investigators said the labels were typically sold for a flat rate of about $2 each, regardless of a package’s weight, size or destination.
The counterfeit labels allegedly allowed customers to ship packages for far less than legitimate USPS rates, leaving the Postal Service responsible for the lost revenue and shipping costs.
Investigators said more than 5,200 people used LabelsBank.com to purchase more than 5.1 million counterfeit shipping labels.
Federal authorities estimate the scheme caused more than $126 million in losses to USPS.
As part of the investigation, authorities obtained a court order authorizing the seizure and shutdown of the LabelsBank.com website.
Akram was charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and make and sell counterfeit postage, five counts of making and selling counterfeit postage labels and four counts of wire fraud.
The conspiracy and counterfeit-postage charges each carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
Each wire fraud charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed how much money Akram allegedly made from the website or announced charges against any of the thousands of people who purchased labels through the site.
