We don’t want summer to end either — but a little planning now can help make the transition to the off-season as smooth as possible.

This is a friendly reminder that winter storage leases are due on September 14.

In addition, please schedule your haul out date as soon as possible using one of the available dates listed in your contract.

🪼 Lion’s Mane Jellyfish Alert

Lion’s Mane jellyfish are currently appearing in unusually large numbers off Cape Cod. These large jellyfish are recognizable by their reddish-brown color and long, hair-like tentacles, which can extend more than 9 feet and may still cause painful stings even after washing ashore.

While Lion’s Mane is normally seen from late spring through summer, this year reports began in May, with exceptionally high densities observed by mid-June. Similar blooms have occurred in the past, including in 2020. Experts believe factors such as water temperatures and available food sources may contribute to these increases.

While stings are typically not considered dangerous, swimmers should use caution and avoid contact.

Remember:
🚫 Do not touch jellyfish in the water or on the beach
↔️ Keep your distance—tentacles can be difficult to see
🏖️ Report sightings to lifeguards while swimming
💧 If stung, rinse with warm water and carefully remove tentacles with tweezers

Many of you have been asking about a schedule. Please be advised…

“… there are no scheduled events or parades of tall ships occurring at the Cape Cod Canal.

While some of the smaller sailing vessels participating in Sail4th 250 in New York and Sail Boston may transit the Canal between the two events from July 8 and July 10, 2026, there is no set schedule for viewing.

Vessels will transit the Canal independently and timing will vary based on many factors along the trip from New York to Boston.

Despite the lack of a formal event, mariners and visitors are advised to be prepared for potentially increased vessel traffic and public activity in and around the Cape Cod Canal due to increased public interest during this period.

Federal, State and Local public safety agencies will be on hand to assist as necessary, enforce all applicable regulations, ensure public safety, and facilitate the safe and efficient movement of vessel traffic on the waterway.”
