U.S. 250 Road Trip with the Werling Boys

We forgot to mention during our first few miles on U.S. 250 that Perkins Township was one of the first places in our area to promote this year’s big birthday with banners for the America 250 Celebration.
We also saw a familiar face on the Gundlach billboard and grabbed a couple more photos along the route as we started our journey.

We extended our stay in Virginia and DC after completing the U.S. 250 Road Trip.
Check out what was up when we returned at the start/end of U.S. 250 in Sandusky!

Our final stretch was along U.S. 250 as it becomes Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia’s capital.
We drove ourselves out of time to give the city it’s due, but plan to revisit on our way back.
There were several breweries and murals along the route.
Visit Richmond VA recommended several museums including the Virginia Museum of Science, and it was along the way, but closed by the time we drove through.
We saw the Virginia version of Mekong (both on U.S. 250) and the sister brewery, The Answer!

Here are a few more photos of Staunton and their renovation of a historic theater. We also dropped Shores & Islands Ohio guides and info cards from the U.S. 250 Road trip to the Visit Staunton, Virginia location. Thank you Karen from the visitors center for being so interested in our trip!
Next up was Charlottesville and a stop at Mellow Mushroom as we did 15 years ago. The tall mushroom was gone, but the boys reluctantly posed for a photo with bearded mushroom guy. And we walked the same alleyway as before. Charlottesville is the home of the University of Virginia and several breweries. It was time Payton did some driving as I sampled a couple beers.

Sadly the mushroom at Mellow Mushroom in Charlottesville, VA is no more.
So we had to settle for a throwback pic with mushroom-hat wearing guy.
